| It's been a considerable amount of time since last I blogged. I guess my instinctive writer's "urge" laid dormant for almost 2 years, until about 3 minutes ago; that's when I remembered I had a Xanga account. I <3 Xanga because it gives a forum to freely commiserate with the benefit of not knowing anyone in real life who reads this. =)
As of late, (11 days to be exact), I've become a geographically-single woman yet AGAIN. This is dh's 3rd tour to Iraq (second since we've been married). But this tour just has me hating the world and being a big hermit for the last 11 days. I even made a spreadsheet that counts down how many days, weeks, & months until dh returns..and what % of the deployment has come to pass. WOW, writing that out loud makes me sound so much more pathetic than I think I really am? But it's true. The lengths I've gone to to stay busy since he left aren't a pretty thing to think about.
Anyhow, some people like to deploy with all 300 of their closest friends, families, and vaguest aquaintences surrounding them? Me, not so much. We went to the gym alone the day he deployed. Dh motivated by the need to spend his last few moments alone with me; ME so that no one would see me hurting. God forbid anyone see me CRY and show real emotion.
I looked around the gym at the hundreds and hundreds of uniformed men in dh's battalion and wondered which ones wouldn't come back. Isn't that an attrociously morbid thought? I'm horrified that I thought that, but that's what I thought. Perhaps it's some deeply twisted coping mechanism of mine. It broke my heart into a million pieces and made me want to give each man, woman, and child in that gym a gold medal and a crown in heaven.
God bless America. God bless all the women who are pregnant and won't give a second thought to welcoming a life into this world while hubby is deployed. God bless all the men who will come home to greet their 15-month toddlers who they've only spent 2 weeks with on r&r. God bless all of the women who now consider their cellphones an extension of their anatomical make-up. God bless all of the men who stand in line for hours to talk on the phone for 15 minutes. God bless every woman who doesn't watch the news on purpose but racks her mind endlessly for "new" things to put in a care package. God bless every man who'd rather hear his name at mailcall than take a much-needed nap.
God bless all of our soldiers in Iraq..
..and all those who love them from the states.
God bless OIF Round 3 (for us).

| Today was a full day. I had class from 6:45-1:00, then Nikki and Claudia invited me to lunch, worked out, did some reading, and went to usher for my theater class. We get 1/2% added to our average for every hour that we usher for a performance. The play isn't half bad and most of the people who come to watch are "society" people, so they're all polite.. not bad, not bad at all. For fear that my 91 average might dive into the B range, I took up some extra hours.. I'd be pissed if after all that work I get a B in that class.
My sister [and of course my hunnie] want me to come down for the weekend so we can hit up the outlet malls during the tax-free weekend. As tempted as I am to go, I have a novel to read, 3 papers to write, and a final to study for.. plus I have to clean my room and start packing up all this junk for my final move back home. YAY!
Job hunting is a pain..most of the available jobs are minimum wage types. I don't mind that at all, but I need something that'll pay my bills. Plus I already know the smart @ss comments that some people will have about my college education going to waste... Oh wellz, as long as I'm happy.
K, time to study for my final English exam.
| Today wasn't half bad. I ran into one of my best friends from my freshman year here named Jessica. She's one of the smartest girls I know, but she dropped out of school and got married when she got pregnant. I was suprised to see that she was expecting again, and she said that she's due any day now...
Okay, I'm tired... just thought I'd come on and update.
